Dave's update Friday 9/27/13:
Chuckle and Duckle Promotions along with Two Fisted Entertainment would like to present the 13th Annual-
Home Track Open
Grand Prairie Country Club
Dust those clubs off one last time for the season and come on out and win the coveted "Green Jacket" and hoist the "VanLent Cup". Win the "Open" and your name will be engraved to live in infamy on the Cup with the past Champions of this historic event.
The Rules:
1) Fluff and Duff
2) No Gimmie putts
3) .75 of league handicap is your Open handicap
4) All ties are to be settled on practice green. Best in three hole putt off then sudden death
The Scoop:
This is a charity event and all proceeds raised are donated to a specific cause. This year were raising money for the Ewbank Family who recently lost their mother to cancer. As a result a financial hardship has occurred because of the battle they rage against the cancer.
The Plan:
A $20 charitable donation will be collected by Randy. This covers the greens fees and enters you into an event on each hole. Tee off at noon then pictures, awards ceremony, autographs, speeches. and then a parade to the Hanger Bar for beer, food and bullshit. As tradition has it, Tom Cox finally spends that $100 bill he flashes every night at golf league on the first round of drinks.
In closing:
Please RSVP and get your current odds. This is the 13th annual outing, its about charity, helping our community and winning the VanLent Cup.
See you there and bring your game because there ain't no Gimmie's.
Home Track Open 2013
Sunday, October 6
12 Noon
$30 per man.
Your Host, Dave Hoogerheide will collect the money and pay the greens fees.
As with the past events, we will be donating proceeds to a charity. The Tournament committee met and decided that this year's benefactor will be the Ewbank Family. See Facebook post below for details. We have a great tradition of donating to various causes over the years, some of which were Multiple Sclerosis Society of Michigan, Kalamazoo Humane Society, American Cancer Society, survivors of lost loved ones, etc.
So, please plan on coming out for some fun golf and helping out a local family in need.
Rumor has it the someone is looking to unify the cups. The Trunk Slammer Cup & the coveted VanLent Cup. I'm Sure Dave will be posting the odds for this years field soon.
Secondhand Childhood post from Facebook:
On June 5th our sales associate, Amanda, lost her Mother, Diane Ewbank, to cancer. Diane was also Tamar's aunt and Cecily's sister-in-law. (Second Childhood's Owner and Office manager) Diane did not have medical insurance. This Friday evening from 7-11, a benefit is being held at Cakes Boutique in downtown Kalamazoo. I am posting information below that was posted on Amanda's Facebook page. There will be an auction with lots of great prizes including many donated by Derek Jeter. Derek spent many happy childhood hours at the Ewbank home and was Diane's son Joshua's very close friend. Read the posts below and if you can attend or help in any way, Thank you!
Early in June, Diane Ewbank lost her battle to cancer. She was a Wife,
Mother, Grandmother, friend and all around GREAT person! Because the
cost of health care for the uninsured is more than most families can
endure, we are holding a benefit in her honor to help with some of the
outstanding costs the family now has. With long hospital stays,
surgeries, treatments and Hospice, there is a lot to take care of.
We need your help with our upcoming event to benefit The Ewbank Family,
which is to be held at Cakes Boutique. We need as many donations as
possible and all of our friends and family to show their support the day
of!!!
We will have tons of raffle prizes, auction items and give aways! Live
music, food and drinks will be provided and donations will be taken at
the door.
Diane Ewbank touched so many of our lives in so many ways and now we
want to give back in any way we can! Diandra, Lauren, Tanner and Patti
are fortunate enough to be friends with this amazing family so if you
have any questions...do not hesitate to call.
We sincerely thank you,
Lauren Hojnacki
This event is right around the corner and we hope that ALL of you can make it! Our auction is going to be amazing!!!
